Conservation partner Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP) is a leader in carnivore research and education. Large carnivores require much more space than other mammals, so studying and protecting carnivores also helps to protect the wider ecosystem and other species. ZCP is a leader in conserving African wild dogs, lions, cheetahs, and other predator species, some of which are critically endangered. For example, wild dogs are an endangered species with viable populations in only 6 countries and only 6,000 individuals remaining.
Dazzle Africa has provided satellite collars that are used in ZCP’s research, surveillance, and anti-poaching efforts. This program has multiple benefits. In addition to informing the research on carnivores behavior that allows conservationists to better understand populations and protect the species, the collars also help respond to incidents that threaten the wildlife, like snaring. With each carnivore saved, this conservation work protects these amazing animals into the future. A recent ZCP analysis found that the offspring of a single de-snared wild dog rescued in 2014 numbered 302 dogs that made up 17 packs.

In 2024, ZCP monitored 455 wild dogs via their research program and rescued 5 of them from snares.
