Every day, the delicate ecosystems of South Luangwa face threats from poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking. At Dazzle Africa, we work hand-in-hand with our conservation partners, Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) and Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP), to combat these challenges and protect the incredible wildlife that calls this region home.
One of our most impactful initiatives is funding anti-poaching patrols and supporting the K9 detection unit. These highly trained dogs and their handlers are instrumental in tracking down illegal bushmeat, ivory, and snares. In 2023 alone, the K9 unit conducted 154 operations, seizing 164 kg of illegal bushmeat and 46 kg of ivory. Their work doesn’t just protect iconic species like elephants and lions; it safeguards entire ecosystems.
In addition, the “Wings for Wildlife” program provides critical aerial surveillance, allowing scouts to cover vast and inaccessible terrains to detect illegal activities and monitor wildlife. Since its inception, this program has been a game-changer for anti-poaching operations and research in South Luangwa.
Through your support, we can continue to fund these life-saving initiatives. Together, we’re making a tangible difference in protecting Zambia’s wildlife for generations to come.
