Dazzle Africa supports Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) to protect vulnerable and threatened species through anti-poaching measures.
The success of anti-poaching missions relies on thorough and consistent training and preparation for scouts and wildlife police officers, including CSL’s highly-trained K9 unit. As law enforcement efforts become more complex and extensive in response to more sophisticated wildlife crime, scouts and wildlife police officers need to adequately be prepared to face today’s wildlife perpetrators. Dazzle Africa has supported multiple anti-poaching activities, operations and equipment.
In 2024, CSL’s scouts confiscated 656.5 kg of illegal bushmeat and 110 firearms while removing 683 kg of ivory from circulation. These results stemmed from 64, 889 km of patrol coverage and 32, 889 person days on foot. In 2024, the K9 Unit with highly-trained dog and handler teams conducted a total of 178 operations. This unit alone participated in seizing 81 firearms and recovering a pangolin carcass and several kilograms of bushmeat.
